Russia Launches Massive Drone and Missile Strike Ahead of U.S.-Mediated Peace Talks
Only hours before a new round of peace talks mediated by the U.S. was set to begin in Geneva, Russia conducted a massive attack on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine. The attack, which involved 390 drones and 29 missiles, resulted in the deaths of three energy sector workers and left tens of thousands of people without power and heat, especially in the city of Odessa.
The Ukrainian and Russian representatives are meeting after pressure from the USA. Although President Donald Trump has come to an agreement, there are still many points of conflict. Russia is asking Ukraine to give up additional territory in the Donetsk region, while Kyiv has refused to do so. President Zelenskyy is quite frustrated with the situation, and said that Ukraine is being pushed too hard for concessions while urging a true and just peace that is supported by strength.
